Haoyu Yang

Hi! I'm Haoyu Yang (She/Her), currently a game designer and programmer based in New York. I graduated from New York University at the end of 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer and Data Science from the College of Arts and Science, minoring in Game Design and Web Programming and Applications. I'm set to pursue a Master of Science degree in Game Design and Development at the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California.

Some fun facts about me:
  1. My MBTI fluctuates between INTJ and ENTJ.
  2. The game I've played the longest is "League of Legends," which I've been playing for nearly a decade since middle school.
  3. My favorite indie game is "Inside."
  4. My recent favorite game is "Baldur's Gate 3."
  5. My hobbies and profession are highly aligned: playing games.

My inspiration often comes from life: it could be the New York subway I take every day, or an intriguing piece of news I stumble upon online... I aim to resonate with various groups through shared memories, lifestyles, and experiences, allowing them to experience the connection within the games I create.

#02 VFXs Unlike writing game codes, VFX represents a new frontier for me. The process of creating VFX, with its reliance on empirical exploration and trial and error, is an exciting aspect for me. This stands in stark contrast to the pursuit of perfection and bug-free code in programming.

#03 Graphic Designs Graphic design was my initial foray into the art world. By sheer coincidence, as a elementary school student, I downloaded Adobe Photoshop for the first time and began experimenting with creating posters for TV shows. In high school, I even had my own small studio, outsourcing minor projects. I even relish the frustration of deliberating over different fonts, especially when I see the final product that satisfies me.
